Unlike a typical cooking class, you'll step inside a real teppanyaki restaurant kitchen—an area normally off-limits to customers—and experience what it's like to cook in a genuine local restaurant.
Together with the restaurant owner, you'll learn how to prepare Hiroshima's famous soul food from scratch using the same techniques and ingredients served to local customers every day.
Working in pairs, you'll create one authentic Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki together on a real teppan (iron griddle), while learning the history, culture, and unique cooking style that make this dish one of Hiroshima's greatest culinary traditions.
As your okonomiyaki cooks layer by layer, you'll hear fascinating stories about how this beloved dish developed after World War II and why it remains such an important part of everyday life in Hiroshima today. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled meeting time. If you have not arrived and we have not heard from you by the meeting time, your booking will be treated as a no-show, and the tour will be considered canceled.
